House of The Dragon fan shares how Rhaenyra Targaryen has done a lot for LGBTQ+ community

Emma D’Arcy being cast as Rhaenyra Targaryen is one of the best things that happened for House of The Dragon and Game of Thrones fans. Not only has she become one of the most favorite Targaryens amongst the fan community, but both Emma and Rhaenyra have also helped further the cause of the LGBTQ+ community in their own ways. While Emma is non-binary, their character Rhaenyra has reportedly been stated to be bisexual – a fact often confirmed by the showrunners and the actor themselves.

A Game of Thrones/House of The Dragon fan by the username @Targ_Nation summarised in a series of tweets how Rhaenyra Targaryen has done a lot for the LGBTQ+ community.

They go on to describe how Rhaenyra is canonically bisexual along with the fact that she supported Laenor being gay allowing him to have his desires fulfilled, while she was being a good mother to her children. She served as an inspiration to Margaery Tyrell, who supported her gay husband Renly Baratheon in a similar way, allowing him to have a relationship with her brother, Loras Tyrell. Rhaenyra even lets Laenor name their third son Joffrey, after his lover who was killed by Criston Cole at their wedding.

We are also reminded in the thread that Rhaenyra also allowed Laenor to bring his new lover Qarl with them on their retreat to Dragonstone, and also helped smuggle them outside of King’s Landing after covering up for Laenor’s supposed death.
