Season 3 of House of the Dragon is poised to match the epic scale of its predecessor, introducing a dynamic lineup of directors who bring their unique creative perspectives to the series. This upcoming season will feature a blend of experienced stars and fresh talent who have left their mark on other acclaimed TV shows. Showrunner Ryan Condal recently confirmed major new characters coming up in Season 3.

House of the Dragon Season 3 to introduce new major characters

The third season of House of the Dragon is expected to arrive sometime in 2026, and fans are excited to meet their favorite characters from Fire & Blood. A number of new personas will be introduced in the upcoming season, something which showrunner Ryan Condal confirmed at the informative Q&A held at the Television Academy’s Saban Media Center (via Gold Derby):

“There are some major new characters this season, but 85 percent of them, we already knew who they were, and it just makes it much more rewarding to write.”

Writing for Season 3 is completed

While it took some time for House of the Dragon Season 3 scripts to arrive, they are finally complete. Condal also revealed that filming will begin in a couple of days: “The writing for Season 3 is essentially done and we start [filming] in a couple of weeks. As the actors embody the characters, it actually becomes much easier to write in a more interesting way, because you get to know everybody really well. For Season 3, there’s much more shape and depth to it right out of the gate, because you’re writing for people you know.”
