Fans of the Game of Thrones prequel are brimming with excitement, eagerly looking forward to the next chapter in the epic Targaryen saga. A new leak from a group reading session from the third season has brought new details into the limelight.

Quick read:

  • Jeyne Arryn jumps from #57 to #40, while Otto, Aemond, Baela, and Addam are absent. Rhaena may still be tied to the Vale plot.
  • King’s Landing sees Rhaenyra’s return, new characters like Ser Luthor Largent and Adrian Redfort, and Hugh and Ulf knighted.
  • Tumbleton and Harrenhal plots introduce new characters and conflicts, with focus on the Battle of Tumbleton and Aegon in hiding.

Steve Toussaint provides a sneak peek at House of the Dragon table read

A recent leak, that looks like a snap from Steve Toussaint (via Wake the Dragon X account), shows a picture of the script along with a number of cast members sitting in front of him. Several prominent characters are absent from House of the Dragon Season 3, Episode 4, including Otto, Aemond, Baela, and Addam. In contrast, Jeyne Arryn makes a notable return, jumping from #57 to #40 on the cast list—marking the biggest leap so far. Gwayne Hightower also moves up slightly, from #20 to #19.

This shift in the character rankings has sparked speculation about ongoing storylines, with the presence of Jeyne Arryn and Rhaena, but not Baela, hinting that Rhaena’s involvement in the Vale plot may not yet be over. Additionally, two new characters are introduced—Tom Tangletongue, a Dragonstone inhabitant who is expected to play a larger role in Season 4, and Janos, an original character created specifically for the show.

Possible plot points for House of the Dragon Season 3 Episode 4

The King’s Landing arc in Episode 4 focuses on Rhaenyra’s return to the capital, with scenes potentially featuring Emma D’Arcy, Sonoya Mizuno, and Kieran Bew together. Hugh and Ulf have been knighted as Sers, and a mix of returning characters appears, including Alicent, Helaena, Mysaria, and Ulf’s friend Cley from Season 2. New additions to the King’s Landing setting include Ser Luthor Largent, commander of the City Watch; Ser Adrian Redfort, a new member of Rhaenyra’s Queensguard; and Ser Torrhen Manderly.

Meanwhile, the Tumbleton storyline introduces several new characters, likely tied to the upcoming Battle of Tumbleton revealed in previous leaks. These include Lady Sharis Footly, Lord Glendon Footly, Daeron (#23), Lord Ormund Hightower (#20), and Jon Roxton (#37). Kat, Hugh’s wife, also returns with a potentially more prominent role this season, tied to her journey to Tumbleton where her brother resides.

Over in Harrenhal, Aemond, and Ser Simon Strong are absent from the episode, with Strong presumed to have been killed by Aemond earlier in the season. However, Alys Rivers, Criston Cole, and Gwayne Hightower appear in this arc, while Aegon and Larys are shown in hiding. Notably, Alyn Waters has not been legitimized yet and remains listed under this name.

Overall, Episode 4 appears to heavily focus on the political developments in King’s Landing and the conflicts surrounding Tumbleton, setting the stage for the unfolding drama in Season 3.
