Exploring the World of Dunk and Egg: ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’
HBO is set to bring more of George R. R. Martin’s world to the screen with a new series titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. This show will follow the story of Martin’s novella series, The Tales of Dunk and Egg. As production begins, here’s everything we know about the series so far.

What is ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight’ About?
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on the short stories of George R. R. Martin, often referred to as The Tales of Dunk and Egg. These stories take place about 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones, during a time when the Targaryen dynasty still rules Westeros.
The official description for the show reads: “Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”
The series is expected to begin with the story The Hedge Knight, which follows Dunk, a humble hedge knight, and his young squire, Egg. A hedge knight is a knight who roams the countryside without a lord to serve. Together, the two navigate the dangerous political landscape of Westeros, encountering powerful enemies and forging their destinies.

Who will play Dunk and Egg in the series?
The series will primarily focus on two characters: Ser Duncan the Tall, known as Dunk, and Aegon V Targaryen, who goes by the nickname Egg. Dunk is a courageous knight with humble origins, while Egg is the young son of a Targaryen prince who travels incognito as Dunk’s squire.
Dunk will be portrayed by Peter Claffey, an actor known for his role in the show Wreck. Egg will be played by Dexter Sol Ansell, a young actor with an impressive resume.

Other cast members include Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell as Prince Maekar Targaryen.
