Game of Thrones Season 6 was amazing, and one of the biggest reveals of the season had to do with Jon Snow. After years of speculation, Jon Snow, who was disguised as Ned Stark‘s bastard, was finally revealed to be the son of Lyanna Stark, and Rhaegar Targaryen. This might even make him the titular character, being part fire and part ice. His birth name has now been possibly revealed! Read on!
The detail was spotted by one of the fans on the Freefolk subreddit, named theshivsharma, and comes from the Empire Magazine’s Game of Thrones Season 7 special. It’s nothing out of the ordinary, so it looks like it’s safe to assume that it will hold true. Check it out, below :
So, if we are to believe this bit, Jon Snow’s birth name is Jaehaerys Targaryen! As you know, Snow is the name given to bastards of the North, and considering Ned was trying to pass him off as his own, it is natural that he chose to name him Jon Snow.
Now, talking about Jaehaerys Targaryen, the name is no stranger to the family. If that is actually his name, he will be Jaehaerys III. The first Jaehaerys was the longest reigning Targaryen King, having had a reign of 55 years, and was thus known as Jaehaerys the Old King, and also as Jaehaerys the Conciliator, Jaehaerys the Wise. Jaehaerys II was the sixteenth Targaryen king, and father to Aerys Targaryen, the Mad King, and the great grandfather of Jon Snow.
So, there you have it. We can’t wait for Jon Snow to get legitimized so that he can finally use his true name. However, knowing Jon, he will probably want to stick to his current name. What do you think? Tell us in the comments, below!
