The Winds of Winter has now taken longer to release than Game of Thrones’s entire run

The last book in the Game of Thrones series was released in 2011, which makes it over thirteen years old. Even with his irregular updates, many of George R. R. Martin‘s followers are growing impatient with him since it’s taking him too long to finish. Fans of A Song of Ice and Fire are currently having to wait longer than the whole production of the Game of Thrones TV series.
The Winds of Winter is due for more days than Game of Thrones’ filming
The sixth book in the novel series that birthed Game of Thrones, fans have been waiting for it for over a decade now. However, the wait doesn’t seem to end anytime soon. As one Redditor derstherower noted last year, “If The Winds of Winter is not released by November 13, 2023, it would be possible to develop, write, film, and air the entirety of Game of Thrones in the span between books.” The book is way past the 4507 days that Game of Thrones took to completion.

George R. R. Martin will not act as showrunner until he completes The Winds of Winter
Despite being the author of the whole A Song of Ice and Fire Universe, fans frequently question why he never directs a series himself. Martin stated on recently, “There’s part of me that would love to be actually writing and running all of these shows…but I can’t! You may not know this, but there’s this book that I’m writing…it’s a little late, but I gotta keep working on it and finishing it!”
