Two new ‘Game of Thrones’ animated shows in the works at HBO, live action project ‘Flea Bottom’ cancelled

Game of thrones intro

The ever-sprawling universe of Game of Thrones recently had two major additions, pushing the boundaries of the known world in the Martinverse. So far we know House of The Dragon is the only prequel in the works so far, and we can expect it to arrive quite early in 2022. However, rumours keep popping up everywhere there are more prequels/spinoffs in talks, and HBO chief Casey Bloys doesn’t deny that.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, HBO Max is working on developing two animated shows inspired by Game of Thrones. That brings the tally of Game of Thrones-based animated shows to three. Back in January, it was known one animated series was already under development. However, there’s still not much known about that series.

However, we do have some news regarding the newer ones. One of them will take place in the Golden Empire of Yi Ti. A region in the continent of Essos that is home to one of the oldest and most advanced societies in author George R.R. Martin’s sprawling fantasy world. Yi Ti is reportedly inspired by Imperial China, just as Westeros was said to have been inspired by Medieval Europe. Yi Ti was briefly referenced on Game of Thrones, though the Sea Snake, a character in HBO’s upcoming prequel series House of the Dragon.

However, there is some bad news as well. HBO is no longer moving forward with the rumoured live-action TV series ‘Flea Bottom‘. Flea Bottom would have taken place in the poorest district of King’s Landing. It was cancelled in the early stages and never officially confirmed by HBO.

Which of the upcoming series got you excited? Tell us in the comments below!

Game of Thrones alum Hannah Waddingham wins her first Emmy for her role in Ted Lasso

Game of Thrones is one of the most decorated series in television history. The highly acclaimed series still holds the record for the most number of Emmy Awards won to date. The show’s cast is still winning heaps of praise and awards, showcasing their amazing talent. Actress Hannah Waddingham, who played the famous ‘shame’ nun Septa Unella, recently won her first Emmy Award for her role in Ted Lasso.

Hannah Waddingham was named outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series during the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night for her role as Rebecca Welton on the beloved Apple+ series Ted Lasso.

The actress was tearing up as she got to the stage to accept her award and excitedly shouted out multiple times, underscoring how important the moment was to her. She got especially emotional as she thanked the show’s creator and star, Jason Sudeikis.

Jason, you’ve changed my life with this and more importantly my baby girl’s. Honestly, I’m so privileged to work with you,” Waddingham, 47, said while accepting the award.

The actress also gave a sweet tribute to her parents and all the people in her life who help her.

This single mum wouldn’t be standing here without you,” she said, before pointing the spotlight at her fellow British stage performers: “West End musical performers need to be on screen more. Please give them a chance cause we won’t let you down.”

Filming for Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is moving very swiftly, as evident from the frequent leaks we’re witnessing with every passing day. Though HBO has been mum about revealing any more info about the show, these periodic leaks are causing waves of excitement amongst the fans, as they’re left wondering and speculating who’s who in the new set pictures. Fans have been wondering for a while about some of the key characters that have not been announced yet. Recently, a few more pictures were leaked, depicting a scene being filmed involving a young Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon.

We already know actress Milly Alcock is playing the younger version of Rhaenyra, as it was announced officially a while ago. However, this is the first time anyone has ever seen Laenor Velaryon in action, played by actor Theo Nate. Nate is a budding actor whose acting credits include Time (2021), a show starring Sean Bean.

Rhaenyra and Laenor were married at a young age, so the leaked pictures that have been circulating on the internet must be from around that time. Also, Laenor dies young in the books, after the couple have their children. So maybe Rhaenyra is seeing him off for the last time at the beach?
