If you still haven’t got around to watching the Game of Thrones finale, don’t be sad. You’re in august company. Richard ‘Robb Stark’ Madden himself is yet to catch up, although the ending has been spoiled to him already.

In a recent interview with Good Morning America, the former Game of Thrones star and Golden Globe awardee admitted to not having watched the finale – “I still haven’t seen it! But [the ending] has been spoiled for me quite a few times already!”

The spoiler Madden is talking about is Brandon Stark being chosen the King of the Six Kingdoms (North remained independent thanks to Sansa). And guess what? He didn’t see it coming either, just like us (well, most of us anyway). When asked about his reaction to the ending Madden said: “[I was] totally surprised. I’ll have to watch it now and see how he ended up there.”

Madden played Robb Stark, older brother of Bran and former King in the North, in Game of Thrones on Season 1-3. His character was killed off in the penultimate episode of Season 3 ‘Rains of Castamere’ in one of the most devastating and shocking events in the history of Game of Thrones – the Red Wedding.

Madden’s character was stabbed to death in Season 3 episode ‘Rains of Castamere’.

Despite the relatively early exit, Madden’s portrayal was widely praised and Robb Stark remains one of the most popular Thrones characters till date. Also, when he gets around to watching the finale, Madden may notice how Robb’s legacy was honoured by Bran when he allowed Sansa to keep the North independent from the rest of his kingdom. That should be sweet!

Natalia Tena (Osha) hated the Game of Thrones ending so much that she ranted for an hour!

The Game of Thrones series finale divided fan opinion like never before and was heavily criticized for its writing. With the huge impact the show has had on popular culture, its no wonder people have strong opinions, and that includes the show’s stars. Natalia Tena, who portrayed the wildling Osha until Season 6 is one.

Speaking on Yahoo’s White Wine Question Time podcast, Tena revealed that the ending left her so enraged that her boyfriend left the houseboat they were sharing at the moment to escape her rants!

Describing the experience, Tena said, “I was a few glasses of wine in when I watched it. I’d binge-watched the whole thing, but I ended up… my boyfriend had to leave the boat because I was ranting for an hour at him about how much I didn’t like it. And then I rang my friend to rant to him.”

Game of Thrones series finale left a huge portion of viewers angry, particularly on account of the writing.

Tena revealed that she liked the story up until the point when Arya kills the Night King, but it all went downhill from there. Like many fans, she holds the writing of the last few episodes to blame. In her words,

“I liked it to the bit where she [Arya] stabs him [the Night King] in the heart. I liked it up to then. But after that, I just feel like… I just didn’t understand. The calibre of writing towards the end and the plots and everything that happens and how they wrapped it up compared to any other season, any other bit, it just feels like it’s been written by different people. It doesn’t make sense, for me.”

Tena, however, doesn’t hold with petitioning to remake the final season, as some disgruntled fans are doing. She said,

“It’s done. I don’t think I’d go as far as a petition. I think they had to end it. [But] I don’t understand why they made those choices.”

A large section of the fans shares the same confusion, still. What do you guys think? Talk to us in the comments, down below!

This is how Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) thought Game of Thrones would end

This is how Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) thought Game of Thrones would end

Whether you liked or hated it, there’s no denying the ending of Game of Thrones came as a shock. A lot of theories went down the drain, and a lot of expectations were quashed – including Sophie Turner’s. In an interview with The Wrap, Sophie revealed that her dream ending would have been very different, particularly in regard to Cersei Lannister’s death.

When asked if she had a dream ending in mind, Sophie promptly said: “I thought Arya would kill Cersei. And I would like to have seen Sansa and Cersei reunited, or Arya and Cersei.”

Sophie’s character Sansa had a particularly nasty bit of history with Cersei, and a final face-off between the two of them would surely have been satisfying. Arya had had Cersei on her ‘hit list’ since Season 2, and when Melisandre’s prophecy about ‘blue eyes’ came true in Season 8 Episode 3 ‘The Long Night’, many thought Arya’s next target is sure to be the green-eyed Lannister queen.

But that bit turned out very differently, as Cersei was crushed to death by the crumbling Red Keep – her own seat of power.

Sophie, however, is not complaining. Sansa being crowned Queen in the North is an amazing conclusion to all her trials and tribulations, and Sophie echoes that sentiment when she says, “I felt very passionately about the ending for Sansa, and I was very happy with the ending that turned out for her.”

“I don’t think the (Game of Thrones) TV series was very good for me,” says George R. R. Martin

"I don’t think the (Game of Thrones) TV series was very good for me," says George R. R. Martin

Game of Thrones was based on the books by George R. R. Martin, and while the show has already ended, the books are yet to finish up. We have been waiting for the next book, which has been undeniably denied due to GRRM’s other ventures, especially his involvement with Game of Thrones. In a recent interview with The Observer, George discussed how the show didn’t do him much good. Read on!

Speaking of whether the controversy over the show’s ending affects the books, he said:

“No, it doesn’t. It doesn’t change anything at all … You can’t please everybody, so you’ve got to please yourself.”

He then delved into how the show harmed his creative process simply by his own involvement in it:

“I don’t think [the TV series] was very good for me. The very thing that should have speeded me up actually slowed me down. Every da]y I sat down to write and even if I had a good day … I’d feel terrible because I’d be thinking: ‘My God, I have to finish the book. I’ve only written four pages when I should have written 40’.”

He also talked about fan theories and fan interactions:

“I took myself out of all that. Some of [the theories] are right and some of [the theories] are wrong. They’ll find out when I finish.

I don’t want to go to a party where an unending succession of people want to take selfies with me. Because that’s not fun the way it was in the old days. That’s work.”

George also admitted to missing the old days, but said it’s a win some, lose some situation.
