Game of Thrones encourages fans to donate blood

Given how full of death and blood Game of Thrones generally is, it came as a rather big surprise when Home Box Office announced that they were teaming up the Red Cross Society to encourage all Game of Thrones fans to celebrate the final season of the show by donating Blood for a good cause. While the show might certainly feature a lot of shortsighted greed and how it gets people killed, it turns out that the producers and the showrunners are simply good humans at heart who want to simply help humanity, despite how sincerely fans are attached to the darkness within the show.

“We are incredibly excited to mobilize the global army of Game of Thrones fans to make a positive impact on the world,” said Zach Enterlin, Executive Vice President, Program Marketing, HBO. “In partnership with the American Red Cross, we’re creating a unique platform to engage our tremendously passionate fanbase, and ultimately showcase the bravery and valor of those fans who will go so far as to bleed for the throne.”

The Blood Donation drive in conjunction with the American Red Cross Society has been aptly named ‘Bleed for the Throne’ will span a total duration of six days from the 7th of March till the 12th of March. This will include an immersive experience at SXSW from the 7th to the 9th, details of which aren’t the clearest, followed by a nationwide blood donation campaign from the 7th to the 12th of March across 47 states and 9 universities and colleges. People interested in bleeding for the throne can find more details in their official announcement.

“The American Red Cross is thrilled to partner with HBO and Game of Thrones. Every day, thousands of patients across the country are dependent on voluntary blood donors to help them fight for their lives,” said Cliff Numark, Senior Vice President, American Red Cross Blood Services. “Winter is finally here, and the needs are dire. No matter who you’re rooting for to take the throne, you can be a hero for patients in need.”

Fans who donate blood during this event will get a ‘Bleed for the Throne’ Tshirt and any person who donates blood by the 17th of March after the event starts will be automatically registered to win a trip to the world premiere of the Game of Throne Season 8, airing on the 14th of April. Blood donation appointments are available starting today at 10:00 PM EST and interested parties can register online.

With the final season of the show quickly approaching, the fans have already shown how far they are willing to go for the Throne. At this point, it seems very plausible that the fans would be more than willing to really Bleed for the throne. All things considered, what seems to be perhaps one of the biggest Blood Drives in the history of the country, looks to be set on the path of a massive success.

Game-of-Thrones-The-Cast-Signs-Off-HBO

Eight seasons and nine years later, Game of Thrones has finally come to an end. One of the biggest reasons it became the cultural behemoth that it is today is its incredible cast and the way they brought the characters to life. They made us laugh, cry, fear for their lives, and cheer for them through their victories and defeats.

HBO has now released a video with the stars signing off and it is giving all of us some major, major feels.

This video is a thank you note to the viewers who made the show such a massive cultural entity and kept it going throughout the years. Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys), John Bradley (Samwell), Kristofer Hivju (Tormund), Gwendoline Christie (Brienne), Maisie Williams (Arya), and Sophie Turner (Sansa) all acknowledged how the fandom’s love kept them inspired to do better.

Emilia talked about how the show became her identity, while Gwendoline and Kristofer spoke about how fortunate they felt to be so loved by the fans. Sophie and Maisie admitted they never imagined that the show would become so big. And finally, Isaac acknowledged that it was the fandom’s excitement about the show – the intense discussions, theories, viewing parties – that kept them going.

Watch the video below:

But, as Kristofer points out, “everything has an end, even Game of Thrones”. Here’s wishing the wonderful cast great futures ahead!

Game Of Thrones finally aired the 6th episode of Season 8 and with it the show has finally come to an end. The series finale started off immediately where the previous episode ended. It showed us the aftermath of Daenerys’ sack of King’s Landing. Before we move ahead, it’s important to let you know that this article contains SPOILERS from the latest episode. So please turn back if you don’t want to see any spoilers.

game of thrones finale leaks accurate

The episode started with a shocked Tyrion, Jon Snow and Davos walking through King’s Landing and seeing the destruction that was caused by Daenerys Targaryen. She didn’t spare anyone and we saw that the Unsullied were still unsatisfied and they continued executing Lannister soldiers in the latest episode. In the span of one episode, Daenerys and her army turned from heroes to villains.

Daenerys finally conquered King’s Landing and had a big Targaryen sigil banner hanging prominently on a wall and it reminded me of the time when Daenerys captured Meereen and her soldiers did the same at the top of the Great Pyramid.

Jon and Grey Worm had an argument and for a moment it felt as if there would be a fight between the Unsullied and Stark soldiers.

Tyrion decided that he could no longer serve Daenerys and threw away the Hand of the Queen pin and he was immediately arrested.

Noble houses from all over Westeros had arrived for the trial and it was nice to see all members of House Stark present in King’s Landing.

Edmure Tully tried to nominate himself as the King of Westeros and was immediately asked to sit down by Sansa.
