Since the filming of Game of Thrones Season 7 finished at the end of February, we have been getting more and more cast interviews, because this is the part of the year when Game of Thrones cast members are free enough. In the latest stream of cast interviews, we now have Iain Glenn, who plays Jorah Mormont on Game of Thrones, who is currently dying of Greyscale, in addition to being in Daenerys Targaryen’s friendzone. He talked about his character’s outfit, love life, and more. Read on!
In a phone interview with Vanity Fair, recently, Iain Glenn talked about his role as Jack Taylor, in the series of the same name, for which he’s known better in the UK. Eventually, the discussion went to his Game of Thrones character. After talking about Jack Taylor’s coat, the interviewer questioned him about Jorah Mormont’s outfit, and Iain responded, explaining how the costume came to be :
“They found it for me, a costume that just felt right. I don’t know. It just felt like it belonged and belonged to him.”
Continuing, the interviewer hinted at how he’s been wearing the same outfit for a long time, now. Iain explained why it was so :
“I think Jorah just needs to land in a safer place, and then he’ll have time to change his clothing. Get cleaned up a little.”
He was asked about Jorah Mormont’s image with the fans as the guy who is always in the friendzone, and how they all want him to get out of it. Iain responded saying :
“Yeah, it’s sweet, the fan reactions. I think that they wish Jorah well, and I think they wish he would—that he deserves physical love in return or something. I don’t know. I mean, the male fans react a little differently. But there is a certain female fan where maybe they see themselves in the story, and as long as you’re failing as Jorah, you’re maybe still more available for them in a funny way. Jack is a polar opposite in that he will get himself into terrible sexual pickles all the time, and is always doing very inappropriate things like having sex with the major suspect and that sort of stuff. He goes there without thinking and then ponders it afterwards, and Jorah ponders it too much, I think. Not that Jorah’s ever going to get it. Well, he might. Who knows?”
Almost dodged a spoiler there, didn’t he? Well, we, like everybody else, are rooting for Jorah to get the girl, too. However, we have no idea what will happen. Iain also talked about Jorah’s Greyscale, and commented on the possibility of his death :
“In all honesty, no one is more worried than me. There’s a high death rate in Thrones, and I desperately don’t want to be part of that number. We’ll have to see what unfolds.”
Looks like so! What do you think Jorah will face in Season 7 when it premieres July 16th? Will he survive, and if so, will he get the girl? What do you think? Tell us in the comments, down below!
