This post has massive spoilers from the Game of Thrones season 6 finale. So turn back if you haven’t yet watched the episode. Game of Thrones has given it’s fans one huge reason to celebrate. We finally came to know that epic fan theory about which we have been talking since ages was correct and it just felt amazing!

Yes, we are talking about the R + L = J fan theory. In Game of Thrones season 6 finale, we finally got to know about Jon Snow‘s real parents and it was one emotional scene. Book readers had figured this out almost 20 years back and it has taken a really long time for this theory to be confirmed but all we can say is that it was worth the wait.

In the final episode, we saw Benjen Stark dropping off Bran and Meera at the Wall as he couldn’t continue further South with them as the Wall had magic spells woven into it, which did not allow the dead to pass through it and technically even Benjen Stark is a dead person. Once Benjen Stark went away, Bran decided to test his powers as he now is the Three-Eyed Raven and he made sure he reached the right place in the past without wasting any time.

We saw Ned Stark running inside the Tower of Joy and this time there was nobody to stop Bran Stark from following Ned inside the tower and finally we got to see Lyanna Stark, who was covered in blood and was in pain. Just before she died, she asked Ned to listen to her and said the famous line, “Promise me Ned.” Ned was clearly stunned after hearing what she said and when he looked behind, he saw her baby.

As he held the baby in his hands, the camera focused on the baby’s face and we were shown the face of Jon Snow or should we say Jon Targaryen or Blackfyre. We will get to know that in the next season but for now Game of Thrones fans can rejoice as the show has confirmed that Jon Snow is the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen!
