Recently Stephen King was in Albuquerque, New Mexico for his End of Watch book tour and he was interviewed by none other than George R.R. Martin at an event. King was in Albuquerque for the book tour for the third and final installment of his Bill Hodges Trilogy, which began in 2014 with the publication of Mr. Mercedes. In less than 3 years Stephen King has published 3 books and all of us know what’s the situation when it comes to the A Song of Ice and Fire book series. The last book, titled A Dance With Dragons was published way back in 2011 and it’s 2016 right now and we are not sure if the book will be published this year or not.
There’s a huge difference in the pace at which these two authors publish their novels. Naturally, even George R.R. Martin had this in his mind and he asked King about it. There’s no video of this interview but Reddit user jmsturm shared details of the event and it included a particularly interesting question by George R.R. Martin for Stephen King. Here’s what was posted on Reddit.
Great night, most of the night was about Mr King, but he did answer a few questions from Stephen about how he started writing and such.
Moment of the night:
Stephen King told George there was time for 1 more question. George asked him “How the fuck do you write so fast? I have a good six months and crank out 3 chapters, meanwhile you wrote 3 books in that time!”
Stephen answered that he writes almost every day and demands 6 pages a day from him self. George was amazed by that.
He replied “You always get six pages? You never get constipated? You never get up and go get the mail, and think ‘Maybe I don’t have any talent and should have been a plumber?'”
It was pretty funny.
After the event, Stephen King shared the following photo on his Facebook page.
Even George R.R. Martin shared few photos from the event on his blog and he also mentioned that a video of the interview will be available soon.
