Game of Thrones Season 8 did not appeal to everyone. The season finale divided the fan base in two. Some cited the absence of George R. R. Martin’s next book in the series as the explanation. Some blamed the showrunners’ growing desire to work with Disney’s Lucasfilm on a parallel Star Wars feature picture trilogy. However, there were still a lot of fans who believed in David Benioff and D. B. Weiss‘ ability to churn out blockbusters. One of them is Game of Thrones star John Bradley himself.

Replicating Game of Thrones’ success will be tough

Game of Thrones turned out to be the greatest hit HBO has ever had, and a lot of the credit goes to its showrunners. Achieving that level of greatness may or may not happen again, and Bradley, who played Sam on the show, also agrees. He told THR, “They’re quite aware lightning striking once is rare enough. They know there’s such a greater degree of expectation on them than on Thrones because they have a reputation to uphold.”

3 Body Problem might change fans’ opinions

However, Bradley also thinks that the Game of Thrones showrunners’ new show might finally change people’s opinions about them. He said,

“Certain people who still have an attitude toward Thrones are maybe looking to see them not hit the mark this time. That’s in the back of David and Dan’s mind — because how could it not be? I think people are going to see this and re-reevaluate them and realize just how great they always were. It’s going to prove a lot of people right, and, maybe, a few people wrong. They’re still trying to break the boundaries of what television can be.”
