Argylle director praises Milly Alcock, but isn’t happy about Supergirl casting protocols
Warner Bros. and DC Studios are undergoing significant transformations after the conclusion of the DCEU. The new DCU, which will be led by Peter Safran and James Gunn, will be a relaunch of the series with fresh faces and characters entering the mix. The Woman of Steel, Supergirl, will now be a part of the franchise. Actress Milly Alcock (Rhaenyra) from House of the Dragon has been roped in for the role. However, the reactions to her casting have been varied.
Argylle director Matthew Vaughn wanted to cast Milly Alcock for a film
Matthew Vaughn has been in the news for quite some time now for his upcoming film Argylle starring Henry Cavill. Vaughn is a big fan of the House of the Dragon star, but was taken aback when she refused a role in one of his films.
He told BroBible, “I’m a huge fan of Milly Alcock. Huge fan. Met with her for this other project we’re working on – she turned me down, which was sad. She’s a fabulous actress.”
Matthew Vaughn was weirded out by the timing of Supergirl casting
Vaughn was however surprised at the manner of Alcock’s casting in the DCU. He said, “Then again, I do find it very weird that they haven’t got a director. That surprised me, because you shouldn’t cast a movie –the director should be casting the movie. I don’t understand who cast it if there isn’t a director.”
However, he is open to directing the movie, if he ever gets the call.
