Details you might have missed in the new House of the Dragon Season 2 trailers
House of the Dragon Season 2 is set to release in June, and HBO surprised fans with two trailers (and one more that combines scenes from the two), exceeding everyone’s expectations. Fans have been analyzing the trailers, confirming some details, and sparking extensive speculation.
Some observations align with prior leaks, while new insights have also emerged. There are two separate trailers for Team Green and Team Black. There is also a third version that combines the two trailers alongside commentary from Emma D’Arcy (Rhaenyra Targaryen) and Tom Glynn Carney (King Aegon II Targaryen).
While the trailers didn’t show us anything about the anticipated characters Nettles and Prince Daeron, they offered glimpses of upcoming events. Showrunner Ryan Condal hinted at Daeron’s eventual appearance in an Entertainment Weekly interview, stating it would occur “in due time.”
The trailers signify a surge in anticipation for the upcoming season, with fans eagerly dissecting every frame for clues about the narrative direction. This article will summarize every detail we noticed in the Dueling Trailers for House of the Dragon Season 2.

House of the Dragon Season 2 Trailer Breakdown
The first trailer for House of the Dragon Season 2 shows us the perspective of the Blacks, led by Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. You can watch the full trailer here:
The second trailer shows us the Team Green perspective. Watch it here:
Let’s break down the details we saw in the two trailers.
The funeral of Lucerys
The funeral of Prince Lucerys, who was killed by Aemond and Vhagar in Season 1, takes place on Dragonstone. His mother, Rhaenyra, and brothers, Jacaerys and Joffrey, attend the funeral. His half-sisters Rhaena and Baela, along with their grandparents Lord Corlys and Princess Rhaenys, are also present. Prince Daemon is absent from the gathering.
Cregan Stark and Jacaerys Velaryon at the Wall, and the Stark family sword Ice
In this shot, Lord Cregan Stark of Winterfell converses with Prince Jacaerys Velaryon at the Wall north of Winterfell. The ancestral Valyrian steel sword of House Stark, Ice, is strapped to Lord Cregan Stark’s back. Lord Cregan will join the ranks of Rhaenyra and the Blacks. In Fire and Blood, he also deploys a regiment of veteran warriors from the North known as the Winter Wolves.
Rhaenyra and the Dragonseeds
Princess Rhaenyra engages in conversation with her newly appointed dragonriders, known as the Dragonseeds. Among them, Addam Velaryon is seated on the left, while Hugh Hammer is positioned on the right. The figure seated between them is likely Ulf White.
Mysaria and Rhaenyra on Dragonstone
Rhaenyra engages in conversation with Mysaria, the White Worm on Dragonstone, confirming that she survived the fire orchestrated by Lord Larys Strong to kill her.
Blood and Cheese
This shot reveals Blood and Cheese, the assassins hired by Daemon to target Aegon’s son, Jaehaerys. They are seen sneaking through a concealed tunnel within the Red Keep. Cheese also has a rat-catching dog along with him.
Sunfyre and Aegon in the Dragonpit
We see a shot of King Aegon II alongside his dragon, Sunfyre the Golden, within the Dragonpit of King’s Landing.
Criston Cole and Gwayne Hightower at Rook’s Rest
Ser Criston Cole and Gwayne Hightower, brother of Alicent Hightower, join the Green army’s charge during the Battle of Rook’s Rest.
Cole after executing Lord Gunthor Darklyn
A shot depicts Criston Cole walking away following the execution of Lord Gunthor Darklyn after the Sack of Duskendale.
Rhaenyra finding Luke’s remains at Shipbreaker Bay
Rhaenyra discovers the washed-up remains of Prince Lucerys on the seashore near Storm’s End at Shipbreaker Bay.
Rhaenyra flying to Harrenhal
Rhaenyra flies to Harrenhal to rendezvous with Daemon, who has gathered the Riverlords to strategize their assault against the Greens. Hovering above the Gods Eye lake during her flight, the Isle of Faces looms in the background.
Gwayne Hightower at the Battle of Rook’s Rest
In a scene likely from the Battle of Rook’s Rest, Gwayne Hightower is depicted looking upward, appearing apprehensive. He is likely gazing at Meleys the Red Queen, Princess Rhaenys’s dragon.
Prince Jaehaerys’ funeral
This scene shows the funeral of Prince Jaehaerys following his assassination by Blood and Cheese. Queen Helaena and Queen Alicent attend, their expressions sad and mournful as they wear black veils.
Duel of the Cargyll Twins on Dragonstone
This scene shows the climactic battle between the Cargyll twins as they fiercely clash on Dragonstone before ultimately eliminating each other. The epic confrontation is destined to be immortalized in the tales sung throughout Westeros.

Prince Aemond and an ominous mural
In this shot, Prince Aemond is walking in an unfamiliar location—not King’s Landing. Behind him, a mural depicts Aegon the Conqueror’s Burning of Harrenhal, serving as a grim reminder.

Daemon threatening the Riverlords
In Fire and Blood, the Riverlords had already aligned with the Blacks, prompting Daemon to choose Harrenhal as a meeting point for further strategy discussions. Contrary to established lore, Daemon is depicted threatening the Riverlords, demanding their allegiance to Rhaenyra.
However, as this remains speculative, it’s also plausible that the scene portrays Daemon conversing with Harrenhal’s castellan, Ser Simon Strong, during his assault on the fortress. This scenario echoes the historical event when Aegon the Conqueror attacked Harrenhal while riding Balerion the Black Dread.
Baela riding Moondancer
This marks our first glimpse of Princess Baela Targaryen’s dragon, Moondancer. Moondancer plays a pivotal role in numerous significant battles throughout the Dance of the Dragons. This particular scene likely depicts Baela riding Moondancer during the Battle of Rook’s Rest, a departure from established lore.
Aegon takes revenge
Following the incident involving Blood and Cheese, King Aegon II Targaryen was furious, ordering the hanging of every ratcatcher in the city because Cheese remained at large. Although Cheese escaped capture, the former Gold Cloak and butcher, Blood, was apprehended and subjected to torture until his death. This scene potentially depicts Aegon II participating in the torture of Blood.
Bracken and Blackwood clash
This scene depicts Amos Bracken drawing his sword, ready to confront a group of youngsters from House Blackwood. The altercation hints at a simmering conflict that may escalate, potentially leading to the Battle of the Burning Mill. In “A Song of Ice and Fire,” the Brackens and Blackwoods harbor a longstanding feud over territory. The hillock in the background is reminiscent of ‘The Teats,’ which were disputed lands that would later become a point of contention during the reign of King Aegon IV, as both houses vied for ownership.
A dragon roars
The Green trailer concludes with a striking image of a dragon rearing up and roaring. This dragon’s appearance at the end of the Green trailer leads fans to speculate it is Dreamfyre, Queen Helaena Targaryen’s dragon. However, official sources identify this dragon as Seasmoke, belonging to Addam Velaryon. Further insights regarding the dragon’s true identity are anticipated in the days ahead.
