House of the Dragon cast: Movies and TV shows to spot them in beyond the series
The cast members of House of the Dragon have quickly become familiar faces over the course of just one season. These highly versatile actors appear in many shows besides the Game of Thrones prequel. They have showcased their talent in many different genres, taking on various roles in multiple productions.
Actors like Matt Smith and Olivia Cooke are already well-known in the realm of pop culture due to their roles in popular franchises. However, they, along with the other cast members of the show, got their start in lesser-known properties. In this article, we delve into the other projects the House of the Dragon cast have appeared in, mapping the trajectories of their careers.

Emma D’Arcy
31-year-old Emma Darcy embodies the leading woman of House of the Dragon, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. This is their most significant and prominent project since they entered the realm of acting for television series in 2018.
The first TV series they appeared in was the BBC drama Wanderlust. D’Arcy played Naomi Richards, the 18-year-old daughter of Joy Richards, a couple’s therapist.
D’Arcy also appeared in the Amazon horror comedy series Truth Seekers, which starred Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. They also appeared alongside Keira Knightley in the film Misbehaviour. D’Arcy has also starred in the romantic drama Mothering Sunday.

Olivia Cooke
Olivia Cooke is a well-known actor who has appeared in many famous projects. Younger audiences may be familiar with her performance in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One. In the film, she played the character of Art3mis, a gamer and pop culture junkie who teamed up with the protagonist, Wade Watts. Cooke has also appeared in the critically acclaimed movie The Sound of Metal alongside Riz Ahmed.
In the black comedy film Thoroughbreds, she plays the emotionless friend of Anya Taylor Joy. Together, they scheme to assassinate her stepfather via a contract with a drug dealer. In the movie Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Cooke plays the character Rachel Kushner, a girl diagnosed with leukemia.

Matt Smith
Matt Smith is best known for playing the Eleventh Doctor in the long-running BBC television series Doctor Who.
He also stars in the Netflix series The Crown, playing the role of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. His performance in the series earned him a nomination for a Primetime Emmy.
Smith appears in the movie Morbius, a spin-off movie in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. Alongside Jared Leto, he plays Lucien/Milo Morbius, a living vampire.
Smith appeared in the Edgar Wright movie Last Night in Soho alongside Anya Taylor Joy. He also played the embodiment of Skynet in a supporting role in the film Terminator Genisys.

Rhys Ifans
Rhys Ifans, who plays Otto Hightower, is a veteran actor who has appeared in numerous films and TV series. Another fantasy series that he has appeared in is the Harry Potter movies, where he plays Xenophilius Lovegood in The Deathly Hallows: Part 1. Ifans played the role of Dr. Curtis Connors, The Lizard, in The Amazing Spider-Man and reprised the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
He also played the role of Grigori Rasputin in The King’s Man, the third instalment in the Kingsman series based on the comic books by Mark Millar. He plays the role of Mycroft Holmes, the older brother of Sherlock Holmes, in the CBS television series Elementary.

Paddy Considine
Paddy Considine stars in The Bourne Ultimatum alongside Matt Damon as newspaper reporter Simon Ross. He also starred in the HBO mini-series The Third Day alongside Jude Law.
Considine has also worked with Edgar Wright in two of his most famous films. In the first one, Hot Fuzz, he had his first comedic role. In the second one, The World’s End, he played one of the “Five Musketeers,” reattempting an “epic pub crawl.”

Milly Alcock
Milly Alcock played the younger counterpart of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. Though she is still a relative newcomer, she has performed numerous roles in various television series and films.
In Upright, an Australian comedy-drama series, she is in the leading role. She plays a runaway teenager who runs into a struggling musician and helps him transport an upright piano across Australia.
She also stars in the Netflix series Pine Gap. It is a political thriller set around the Australian and American joint defence intelligence facility. She also played the lead roles in the 2020 film The Familiars and the 2018 horror film The School.
Emily Carey
Emily Carey plays the younger version of Alicent Hightower. It isn’t the first time she’s been cast to play the younger version of a character. She played the teenage Wendy in the Peter Pan adaptation, The Lost Girls, alongside another Game of Thrones alumni, Iain Glen.
She also played the young Lara Croft in the 2018 Tomb Raider movie, with Alicia Vikander playing the older version. Additionally, she also played the younger version of Diana Prince, played by Gal Gadot in the first Wonder Woman movie.
She has also played the lead in the movie Anastasia alongside Brandon Routh. She has also voiced Mila Starr in the animated franchise Monster Family, which also stars Nick Frost and Jason Isaac.
Steve Toussaint
Steve Toussaint plays the enigmatic Lord Corlys Velaryon, also known as the Sea Snake. He has worked with one of the House of the Dragon cast members in the past, namely Milly Alcock, starring alongside her in the Australian series Pine Gap.
Apart from this, he has worked in many series that were produced in the early 2000s, one of which is Flight of Fury alongside the legendary Steven Seagal. He has worked in Judge Dredd, the post-apocalyptic superhero film that stars action star Sylvester Stallone.
