Everything we know about House of the Dragon season 2 filming in Spain
The production team of House of the Dragon season 2 has reportedly wrapped up filming at Cáceres and Trujillo in Spain. Many photographs were leaked by Spanish onlookers since 96,000 people occupy the city of Cáceres. Though security measures were tight, it was impossible to block the city off from cameras completely. The filming began on May 18th and wrapped up on May 25th.
They have also used HBO and Game of Thrones’ favorite location, Leavesden Studios in England, for filming before they moved to Spain. Though Cáceres is thought to be King’s Landing (occupied by the Greens for now), Emma D’Arcy, who plays Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, was also seen at the location. Here’s all we know about the House of the Dragon season 2 filming in Spain.
Where exactly are the scenes being filmed?
The red areas mark the locations where security was heightened around the time the House of the Dragon season 2 crew landed in the city. Around 100 hotel rooms were also booked for a week in nearby localities. The city council of Cáceres and Trujillo even put up the Targaryen flags in acknowledgment. Security was tightened even more around the time of showrunner Ryan Condal’s arrival in Spain.

Which scenes were filmed in Spain (that we know of)?
While there are no photos of what was filmed inside the buildings, we have seen multiple photos of horses in armor, Aegon II’s heraldry banner, and multiple processions. Here are the most probable events that will take place in the show that have been shot in Spain.
1. Prince Jaehaerys’ Funeral Procession
Multiple leaks and news sources such as Splash News have published photos of a child’s body in a casket, followed by Olivia Cooke and Phia Saban in an open carriage. This is Prince Jaehaerys’ funeral procession following his murder by two assassins, Blood and Cheese, hired by Prince Daemon Targaryen (played by Matt Smith). In the pictures, we see the casket on a horse-drawn carriage and his Queen mother, Helaena Targaryen, and her mother, Dowager Queen Alicent Hightower, in funeral outfits. Ser Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel) follows close behind them.

While this scene is not exactly described in the books, it would make complete sense for a prince to have his own state procession after his death. Although this can double as a way for the Greens to garner sympathy from their common folk. This is how they can paint Rhaenyra and Daemon as the villain and do damage control since Aemon Targaryen, one of their own, began the bloodshed.
2. Victory Parade
A blue structure was seen being hauled around the streets of Cáceres. This is thought to be Meley’s head after Greens won at the Battle of Rook’s Rest. King Aegon on Sunfyre and Prince Aemon on Vhagar battled against Princess Rhaenys(Eve Best) on Meleys. Though she was experienced and gave them a tough fight, she was fighting a losing battle. In the end, Rhaenys and Meleys both lose their life.
‼️ SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2 OF HOUSE OF THE DRAGON ‼️
Meleys’ head is paraded in King’s Landing with the announcement: “Behold! The traitor’s head Meleys!”. You can hear some people in crowd booing, the smallfolk isn’t cheering.

The leaked photos and videos have captured the people of King’s Landing looking horrified as the Greens’ allies parade around Meley’s head as proof of their victory and strength. We can also hear some of the crowd booing. The sigils of lesser-known houses siding with the Greens are seen in the procession: Stokeworth, Darklyn, Stanton, and Rosby.
3. Cock Inn
We do not know exactly was Cock Inn is according to the books. Anyone’s best guess would be that it serves as a tavern and a brothel in King’s Landing. After House of the Dragon season 1, we know the new King Aegon II(Tom Glynn-Carney) loves spending time in such establishments and has also sired bastards from his escapades. It is possible that we might get to see him visiting this brothel.

Where are the Blacks?
While Emma D’Arcy and other notable Black characters have not been caught by the public eye, their sigil has. A historical building in Cáceres was seen with the original House Targaryen emblem. We are unsure if it signifies Rhaenyra’s presence because she adopts a different sigil later in the Dance of the Dragons. But initially, both sides used the same Targaryen flag, leading to confusion.
Aegon II’s side changed the red of the Targaryen symbol to gold to represent his golden-scaled dragon Sunfyre. In the books, Rhaenyra’s side changed it to also house the sigil of the House Vale in honor of her mother and that of House Velaryon. But with recent set pictures, it might be possible that the show has adapted it to be a black sigil on a black flag.
Honestly, I love this design way better than the sigil of Fire & Blood (it's ugly ASF). Also, could be an interesting choice meaning Rhaenyra is in deep grief/mourning (I mean, she lost a lot of people already). It's not meant to be beautiful. It's the death of House Targaryen. https://t.co/mddHyq0bjU
