Clare Kilner to return as director for House of the Dragon season 3

Filming for House of the Dragon season 3 is fast approaching, and exciting news is already coming in. One of the big returns is Clare Kilner, who will be back to direct for the upcoming season. Kilner previously directed episodes in season 1 and season 2, and now fans are eager to see her return to the show.

Known for her work on episodes like “We Light the Way” and “Rhaenyra the Cruel”, Kilner’s direction has already earned praise for bringing the world of Westeros to life in a deeply emotional and visually stunning way. Fans can expect the same in season 3.

According to fan account Westerosies, Clare Kilner will be directing several episodes of House of the Dragon season 3, continuing her impressive work on the series. Kilner has directed a total of 5 episodes in House of the Dragon so far.

In addition to her work on House of the Dragon, Kilner has an extensive background in television, having directed episodes of Fallout, EastEnders, The Middle, Sneaky Pete, Trinkets, Claws, Krypton, Pennyworth, The Alienist: Angel of Darkness and Snowpiercer. As filming for season 3 begins, Kilner’s return has fans excited for what’s to come.

Meanwhile, cinematographer Alejandro Martinez has arrived in North Wales for pre-production location scouting ahead of filming.

Other production news for House of the Dragon season 3

Alongside Kilner’s return, House of the Dragon season 3 will also see the addition of Nina Lopez-Corrado as director. Lopez-Corrado has worked on high-profile shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Supernatural, The Flash, The Mentalist and The Last of Us. She will direct some episodes this season, bringing her experience to the world of Westeros.

Richard Donnelly has been confirmed as the director of photography for the episodes directed by Lopez-Corrado.

Meanwhile, PJ Dillon will return as director of photography for Season 3. Dillon, who worked on director Alan Taylor’s episodes in Season 2, will once again lend his expertise to the show’s visual storytelling. Taylor, who worked on the iconic Battle at Rook’s Rest in Season 2, is expected to return as well, although his participation has yet to be confirmed.
