Maisie and Sophie started their acting careers at a very young age of 12 and 13 respectively when they auditioned for Game of Thrones. It was their first big debut project together for the two of them. They had the unique experience of only being a year apart in age and living out their teenage years on screen. Turner has often stated the highs and lows of starting their careers so young, especially for a big-budget ensemble like Game of Thrones.

The two were reel sisters but were no less than real sisters as they always hung out together. On record, Turner said that “they didn’t socialize with anyone” but themselves as they both enjoyed each other’s company so much. Williams and Turner’s on-screen chemistry was a reflection of their off-screen friendship, as they grew closer over the years of filming.

As an ode to their friendship Williams and Turner made the same tattoos to commemorate their friendship like many people mark their anniversary with a partner. Several rumors were floating around about the status of their relationship but the duo cleared the air and said that it is just platonic.

In an interview with Elle, Williams revealed that they like to remember the day that ultimately brought them together. And they got it inked onto their arms to remember forever. Williams said, “We always said that we wanted them so we got the date 07.08.09 on our arms because that’s the date that both of us found out we’d got our roles in Game Of Thrones”.

Alongside their matching ink, Williams and Turner revealed that they have a nickname for their friendship. The name suggests the fun vibe of their dynamic and is called ‘Mophie’. It all started when Sophie Turner appeared on Nick Grimshaw’s show on BBC and asked her to reveal cringeworthy and embarrassing secrets about her BFF.

Williams explained that the first time she saw the name ‘Mophie’, it was about a brand of the phone case. Initially, she was skeptical about the brand name but eventually, she did like it as a way, to sum up her relationship with her best pal. The fans were delighted by this name and since then Mophie has been synonymous with them.

Beyond their work on “Game of Thrones,” Williams and Turner have continued to support each other’s endeavors. They’ve attended premieres, events, and parties together, showcasing their enduring friendship even after the conclusion of the show. As fans, we can only hope and pray for their return to celluloid and witness their amazing chemistry once again.
