Maisie Williams wants to extend her career beyond Arya Stark’s shadow
Arya Stark had one of the most amazing story-arcs on Game of Thrones. Even though there were speculations about who was going to kill the Night King, Arya doing the deed was quite an unexpected one. Moreover, Maisie Williams went to great lengths to portray her character truthfully to the source material. However, playing the role for such a long time led to her being typecast in similar roles, as in Two Weeks to Live. She wishes to diversify her roles in future projects, according to a new interview.
Talking to Porter in a recent interview, Maisie Williams revealed how she yearned to be more than just Arya Stark of Game of Thrones. She said, “Arya was written as hot-headed and I catch myself in roles jumping straight to being accusatory or angry or upset.”
She continued, “But it was Arya’s reality, and maybe mine, so I do find myself jumping there as if it were my place of comfort. I’d love to leave the crying and screaming for a while.”
Maisie Williams has currently stepped away from her action-packed roles, and is going to play a major role in the upcoming biopic series Pistol on FX.
