George R.R. Martin down with Covid after attending the House of The Dragon panel at SDCC 2022
The horrors of the Covid pandemic don’t seem to end. Even after the tremendous losses that the world suffered since the Red Wedding year 2022, the wretched virus doesn’t seem to slow down one bit. The latest victim of COVID-19 is none other than everyone’s favorite writer George R. R. Martin, who contracted the virus after attending the House of The Dragon panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022.
In a cruel twist of fate, Martin had previously joked about not going to the Con fearing a Covid spread on his blog, Not A Blog. According to a recent report by Deadline, the cast and the crew of House of The Dragon gathered at the World Premiere that was held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in LA last night, and Martin was not amongst them. HBO and HBO Max Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys told the audience that Martin had to skip the event after testing positive for Covid.
Martin’s health has been a topic of concern amongst his avid readers for a really long time, who have been waiting for the next book in the series ‘Winds of Winter‘ for nearly a decade. Moreover, Martin is involved in the making of a number of Game of Thrones spinoffs, as well as projects with Marvel and Amazon. All of his plans will have to take a backseat following the news.
Hopefully, Martin will recover properly in time and will be tending to his “garden” very soon. Send your good wishes to the author in the comments below!
