Game of Thrones and Marvel are some of the biggest franchises the world has ever seen. Both are recognized as pop culture icons, and there’s hardly anyone on this planet who hasn’t heard of them. While Game of Thrones has become the benchmark for quality fantasy shows, Marvel has been a box-office breaking juggernaut over the past decade. Both the franchises have shared several actors, and this time the two are collaborating again, indirectly.

Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin is a Marvel fan. And his next project will see him working with Marvel artists to adapt his own superhero universe into a comic series, called The Wild Cards. In a recent blog posted on his Not A Blog site, the author happily announced:

“As a professional, I wrote science fiction, fantasy, and horror… but I never lost my love of superheroes. And that eventually led me to a role-playing game called SuperWorld, which in turn led to the creation of the Wild Cards series along about 1986-7. And now, some thirty-odd books and thirty-six years later, Wild Cards and Marvel are coming together once again.”

“The series is an adaptation of the Wild Cards origin story, scripted by our own Paul Cornell, novelist, scriptwriter, and creator of Abigail the Understudy, a serious actress. Mike Hawthorne provided the art, and Steve Morris the cover.”
