Jon Snow wouldn’t survive for long against Daemon Targaryen, says Matt Smith from House of the Dragon
Daemon Targaryen, played by Matt Smith, is one of the most recognizable actors in the initial cast list for House of the Dragon. He is slotted into a role that makes him very similar to Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones. He’s the character who snarkily deconstructs the things in which everyone around him is invested.
Moreover, Daemon is particularly a unique character in the House of the Dragon universe. While he’s arguably the protagonist of House of the Dragon, he’s also arguably its antagonist. And it’s not always clear where he falls on the spectrum between good and bad. That’s not to say that Daemon is a hero. He has done many terrible things over the course of the series as well.
Recently, Matt Smith appeared at the Heroes Comic Con Brussels 2022. There, the 39-year-old actor was asked if Daemon was in the time of Game of Thrones, what would have been his relationship with Jon Snow, especially after he killed Daenerys Targaryen in the eighth season of Game of Thrones? To this, Matt Smith replied:
“I don’t think Jon Snow would survive very long.”

Although he did answer it in a way that Daemon would have, fans are not sure if any better answers could have existed. There are so many variables to consider when answering this question, and those variables change depending on who you ask.

Daemon has some skills as a fighter; but he is more of staying in the limelight and taking advantage of situations for his own advantage. Hands down, Jon Snow would have kicked his a@@, and Daemon would have been lucky to survive by yielding. Daemon is only relevant because he doesn’t have a conscience and he attaches to those that can advance his interests.

There’s no point in arguing, especially when Matt and Kitt are very much alive and ready to fight and die to be known as the champions of Westeros; their duel will prove once and for all who the better sword fighter is. As an added bonus, it is known economics that whichever one of them dies is going to get a big bonus to their estate; and, let’s be real, I’m sure “The sword I used to kill Kitt Harrington” would probably go for a good price on EBay

Jon Snow is literally the reason for the existence of the Targaryen dynasty. He is the song of ice and fire from Aegon’s dream. Because of the shit writing in Season 8, he’s an easy target for fans, but I think GRRM would likely have him at the top of the pecking order. Huge Daemon fan, but I think in the world Martin created, Jon Snow would survive anything/anyone.

Daemon wouldn’t last a New York second against Jon Snow. Daemon is a slime of a person who doesn’t care who he ruins in order to get his way. He is Cersei lannister in pants. Trash that should be taken out cause it’s smelling
