Kieran Culkin jokingly tells Pedro Pascal to ‘suck it’ after Golden Globe loss
After the Christmas and New Year festivities, it’s time for the awards season. HBO has a lot of contenders this year in the awards race, and a lot of them are doing quite well. While The Last of Us completely dominated the early night of Emmys, Succession took the crown at the Golden Globes. However, even shows from the same network share an intense rivalry, as evident from a certain gesture that was made by Succession’s Kieran Culkin.
Kieran Culkin teases Pedro Pascal after The Last of Us’ Golden Globe snub
After an amazing run on Day 1 of the Emmy Awards, where The Last of Us managed to grab the highest number of awards, no one was expecting them to fail so miserably at The Golden Globes. While the video game adaptation failed to claim any titles, Succession managed to grab four. The corporate drama’s Kieran Culkin won the Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series — Drama, closely beating his fellow competitor from The Last of Us, Pedro Pascal.
In his acceptance speech, he took a dig at Pascal. He said, “Nightmare, ugh! Sit down. Sorry, burping. Indigestion. Otherwise, this is a nice moment for me. I’ve blown it already. I was nominated for a Golden Globe, like, 20 years ago. When that moment passed, I remember thinking, ‘I’m never going to be back in this room again.”
He continued, “It’s fine, whatever. But, thanks to Succession, I’ve been in here a couple of times, it’s been nice, but I sort of accepted I had never been on the stage. So, this is a nice moment. Suck it, Pedro. I’m sorry. Mine!”
Pedro Pascal injured his arm before The Golden Globes
Pascal surprised a lot of fans when he showed up at The Golden Globes with his arm in a sling. A number of concerned journalists asked what had happened, to which he replied, “I fell… Be careful! It can happen to anybody.”
The filming of The Last of Us is soon to begin in February, and Pascal’s injury doesn’t bode well for the production. Hopefully, he will get his arm patched up before the filming begins, or we might have to face another delay with Season 2.
