House of the Dragon season 2 soundbites hint at Aegon II’s inability to rule the Seven Kingdoms
NPR gives us a sneak peak into House of the Dragon season 2.

We are moments away from HBO’s House of the Dragon season 2 premiere. While some lucky people have gotten their hands on an early premiere, everyone else will have to wait for the show to land on HBO Max.
However, in NPR’s review of the show where Eric Deggans calls House of the Dragon season 2 a poignant story, we can find some soundbites that give crucial details on the upcoming season’s narrative.
Aegon II’s inability to rule

Furthermore, another soundbite shared by NPR hints at Aegon II being unfit to sit on the Iron Throne. A king is expected to be firm, clear-headed, and brave in the face of adversity. However, Aegon II seems to be on the other extreme of the scale. The soundbites reveal how Aegon II urges his council to return a man’s sheep, unfamiliar with the ways of the world.
In another instance, Aegon II is seen misusing his power of the crown and commanding Tyland Lannister to let his son go for a ride on his back. All these situations show how unfit and unworthy Aegon II might be as a ruler of the Seven Kingdoms.

In Game of Thrones, we saw how crucial the Night’s Watch is in maintaining the peace and safety of the realm. While many don’t believe the threat, reality soon rears its ugly head and forces people to band together in the name of humanity.
Though we know the Night’s Watch has been around for centuries, it is a great insight to know it will play a role in the upcoming season of the prequel series. A soundbite in the NPR review reveals an unidentified character saying,
“Through its long tradition, the Night’s Watch cultivated its strength from doomed men who had their life as their only possession. This is not a sentence, but an honor.”

Daemon confronts Ser Erryk Cargyll for not killing Aegon II

In another soundbite, we hear Daemon Targaryen’s signature anger as he expresses his disdain for Ser Erryk Cargyll. The latter fails to eliminate Aegon II, the biggest enemy of the Blacks in House of the Dragon season 2. Daemon says, “Aegon was in your grasp. You should have killed him yourself.”
To which Cargyll thoughtfully responds, “We swore the same oath – to defend the whole of the royal family. So what were we to do when they turn against one another?”
This aspect alone is powerful in signifying how the civil war will affect not only the two factions but also common folk and members of the court. Entire Westeros will face the brunt of the war as the Blacks and Greens grab each other’s throats.
