Daemon Targaryen confronts Erryk Cargyll in new clip from House of the Dragon Season 2

Actor Matt Smith, who plays Daemon Targaryen on House of the Dragon, recently appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Fans of the show were also treated to an exclusive clip from Season 2 during the interview.

The clip showed an interaction between Daemon Targaryen and Erryk Cargyll, two characters who share very little screen time in Season 1 and are rarely seen together in George R.R. Martin’s Fire and Blood, on which the show is based.

In House of the Dragon Season 1, we saw Ser Erryk Cargyll abandon his post in King’s Landing to join Rhaenyra and the Blacks. He also provided her with her father Viserys’ crown, used for the coronation on Dragonstone.

Ser Erryk is set to be part of an important battle in which he will be on the opposite side from his twin brother, Ser Arryk Cargyll. His brother still serves the Greens, which appears to be one of the reasons that Daemon is affronted in the clip we saw.

In the clip, Daemon questions Ser Erryk’s loyalties and berates him for not using his position and opportunity to kill Aegon while he has the chance. Ser Erryk replies that he and his brother were chosen at a young age to join the Kingsguard. They were chosen to protect the entire royal family, and his oath was conflicted when the family warred with itself.
