Filming
House of the Dragon Season 2 unlikely to be affected by actors’ strike due to UK union laws

The state of House of the Dragon Season 2 filming was in limbo because of the authorization of a writer’s strike by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA). The show had continued filming despite the ongoing writers’ strike, and will do so despite the actors’ strike as well due to UK Union laws.
At the time of the strike authorization, House of the Dragon Season 2 had just finished filming at Wales. The on-location filming had concluded, but the filming was set to continue at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in London until around September and October of this year. The show’s cast and crew were hard at work bringing the world of Westeros to life, and production is unlikely to stop, reports Variety.
It appears that the U.K. actors are governed by Equity, the local union for actors, which isn’t legally allowed to support the strike. Since House of the Dragon mostly comprises of U.K. actors, the production is bound to be unaffected.
The series has been highly anticipated since it was first announced, and the first season was a huge success. However, it’s important to remember that the strikes are for the good of the people that bring this show to life, so it would have been well worth the delay if it meant the makers will get paid better by the end of it.
