House of the Dragon Season 2 is set to release in June, and HBO surprised fans with two trailers (and one more that combines scenes from the two), exceeding everyone’s expectations. Fans have been analyzing the trailers, confirming some details, and sparking extensive speculation.

Some observations align with prior leaks, while new insights have also emerged. There are two separate trailers for Team Green and Team Black. There is also a third version that combines the two trailers alongside commentary from Emma D’Arcy (Rhaenyra Targaryen) and Tom Glynn Carney (King Aegon II Targaryen).

While the trailers didn’t show us anything about the anticipated characters Nettles and Prince Daeron, they offered glimpses of upcoming events. Showrunner Ryan Condal hinted at Daeron’s eventual appearance in an Entertainment Weekly interview, stating it would occur “in due time.”

The trailers signify a surge in excitement for the upcoming season, with fans eagerly dissecting every frame for clues about the narrative direction. This article will summarize every detail we noticed in the Dueling Trailers for House of the Dragon Season 2.

Daemon threatening the Riverlords

In Fire and Blood, the Riverlords had already aligned with the Blacks, prompting Daemon to choose Harrenhal as a meeting point for further strategy discussions. Contrary to established lore, Daemon is depicted threatening the Riverlords, demanding their allegiance to Rhaenyra.

However, as this remains speculative, it’s also plausible that the scene portrays Daemon conversing with Harrenhal’s castellan, Ser Simon Strong, during his assault on the fortress. This scenario echoes the historical event when Aegon the Conqueror attacked Harrenhal while riding Balerion the Black Dread.

Baela riding Moondancer

This marks our first glimpse of Princess Baela Targaryen’s dragon, Moondancer. Moondancer plays a pivotal role in numerous significant battles throughout the Dance of the Dragons. This particular scene likely depicts Baela riding Moondancer during the Battle of Rook’s Rest, a departure from established lore.

Following the incident involving Blood and Cheese, King Aegon II Targaryen was furious, ordering the hanging of every ratcatcher in the city because Cheese remained at large. Although Cheese escaped capture, the former Gold Cloak and butcher, Blood, was apprehended and subjected to torture until his death. This scene potentially depicts Aegon II participating in the torture of Blood.

Bracken and Blackwood clash

This scene depicts Amos Bracken drawing his sword, ready to confront a group of youngsters from House Blackwood. The altercation hints at a simmering conflict that may escalate, potentially leading to the Battle of the Burning Mill. In “A Song of Ice and Fire,” the Brackens and Blackwoods harbor a longstanding feud over territory. The hillock in the background is reminiscent of ‘The Teats,’ which were disputed lands that would later become a point of contention during the reign of King Aegon IV, as both houses vied for ownership.

The Green trailer concludes with a striking image of a dragon rearing up and roaring. This dragon’s appearance at the end of the Green trailer leads fans to speculate it is Dreamfyre, Queen Helaena Targaryen’s dragon. However, official sources identify this dragon as Seasmoke, belonging to Addam Velaryon. Further insights regarding the dragon’s true identity are anticipated in the days ahead.
