4 Game of Thrones characters to whom “Blood of my Blood” might refer to
After the tragic end of episode 5, which finally revealed the true meaning of Hodor and how a young Wylis became Hodor, we have the official summary of the next episode, titled as “Blood of my Blood”. It reads : “An old foe comes back into the picture. Gilly (Hannah Murray) meets Sam’s (John Bradley) family. Arya (Maisie Williams) faces a difficult choice. Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) faces off against the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce).”
Now since the summary hardly tells anything about the episode, we dig a little deeper into the episode’s title to reveal a possible twist or a great moment that we can expect to see in the next episode. While “Blood of My Blood” is used by the Dothraki, but as it is generally the case with the show, nothing can ever be assumed to be literal. So here’s a list of characters to whom “Blood of My Blood” might refer to-
1. Benjen Stark
The younger brother of Ned Stark has been missing since the first season of the show after his horse returned from the North of the Wall without its rider. Though he was presumed dead, his body was never found and that might be a big indication that he is still alive. In the episode’s preview, we see that Meera and Bran are still chased by the wights and we also spot a man on his horse who might have come to their aid. Now as we know that wildlings do not ride horses, this has got to be a man from the Westeros. And as Benjen is the brother of Bran’s father, he is his “Blood of My Blood” and hence he fits the bill perfectly. Check this theory why we might see Benjen Stark in the next episode.
2. Lyanna/Ned Stark
Earlier in the season, one of the most awaited moment of the show’s history was cut short when “The Tower of Joy” sequence was not shown completely as the Three Eyed Raven brought Bran back from his past vision. As you might already know that The Tower of Joy will finally confirm or deny the most speculated fan theory about the parentage of Jon Snow, and with actor Robert Aramayo set to return in episode 6 as young Ned Stark, the mist might finally get cleared from R+L=J. Also Lyanna and Ned too fit the description of “Blood of My Blood”.
3. Lady Stoneheart
Untill now the show had shied away from the reanimated Catelyn Stark who was brought back to life by the Red Priest in the books. But as we have seen in the main trailer that Walder Frey is set to return this season and the summary of the episode also refers to an old foe, this might very well be the episode in which Lord Frey meets his fate and we finally meet Lady Stoneheart, taking revenge for the gruesome death of her son and his unborn child, and the Brotherhood without Banners who are known for hanging all the Freys that they can get their hands on.
4. Sandor ‘The Hound’ Clegane
Like Benjen Stark, we did not see the Hound dying after Arya left him with his Brienne inflicted wounds. As we know too well that the show doesn’t shy away from showing the deaths and that the fans have a strong theory that recognizes him as The Gravedigger, a man who was saved by The Faith from dangerous wounds. As the show clearly hints a conflict between the Crown and the Faith in the up and coming episodes and if comes to trial by combat, the only man who can fight The Mountain, who would certainly be the Crown’s champion, is no one else but his own brother, The Hound. So “Blood of My Blood” might literally refer to blood of his brother, which would go along the general sadistic approach of show towards life. *sighs*
