Maisie Williams doesn't want Arya to reunite with her family on Game of Thrones
Arya Starkhas been the resident badass of Game of Thrones since the beginning of the show, and now that she has become a serious faceless assassin with the murder skills of a grown-up serial killer, she’s proved that there’s nothing she can’t do when it comes to innovative ways of killing people. In the finale episode of season 6, we saw Arya slitting Walder Frey’s throat after having served him, very skilfully might I add, the remains of his sons, and after the satisfying death of the Frey lord, Arya seems to be on her way to exact revenge from everyone she can find.
We don’t know exactly what Arya is going to do in the next season, but we can surely assume that she’s going to continue on her killing spree and perhaps even meet her remaining family on the way. But Maisie Williams, the actress who plays Arya Stark, seems to think that Arya should not be reuniting with her family after all.
According to what EW has reported, Maisie revealed during her tour of the Syrian Refugee Camps in Greece that she would prefer Arya to be on her own from now on, and preferably not meet her family anymore.“I’d love for her to be a bit of a lone ranger,” she said. “I’d love for her to be kind of like The Hound. I don’t really want her to reunite with her family because I don’t think that they’re the same people anymore or that she’s the same person anymore. I think she’s better off on her own. I’d love for her to be alive, actually, and be her own boss.”
In essence, Arya has almost always been her own boss considering her rebellious behaviour, but now that Maisie thinks her character should remain on her solitary journey, we can’t help but think that Arya might just grow up to become a dangerous trained assassin whom no one would like to cross. But let’s hope that during her time alone she manages to bump into Gendry, perhaps, because we haven’t seen a lot of him for a long time anyway.
