This summer will see the release of HBO’s House of the Dragon‘s second season, which is a prequel to Game of Thrones. Fans have praised the characters, stories, locales, and other aspects that make the fantasy epic so engaging, and it has received a great deal of praise thus far, much like the original. We’ll meet a lot of new characters in Season 2, including Gayle Rankin’s Alys Rivers, who might just become your new favorite.

Alys Rivers’ storyline is “very wild” in House of the Dragon

Alys Rivers will be a key character in House of the Dragon Season 2, and a majority of her storyline revolves around Aemond. Talking about her character in the Game of Thrones prequel, Rankin told Town and Country Magazine, “For as huge as it is, it’s quite an intimate set. My particular storyline is quite, for the moment, contained. Contained, let’s say—very wild, but contained.”

Gayle Rankin loves playing “prophetic” characters

Rankin has traditionally played prophetic and eccentric characters, one of the reasons why she was picked for the role. She said of her character, “I’m obsessed with her. I’ve always given the opportunity to play people who are pretty prophetic, which is cool, but it’s a lot of pressure! She’s so fucking cool. I want to really ground her and find her humanity—I always try to find my way into that, but she has a lot of power, too. Just really exciting. I don’t think we’ve seen half of it yet, so that will be fun.”
