“I think there were mistakes made”: Kit Harington opens up about Game of Thrones’ rushed ending
Well, that sums up the controversy!
For dedicated fans, the controversy over Game of Thrones‘ season 8 is still a hot topic. Despite wrapping up production five years prior, HBO’s lucrative franchise keeps its hold on viewers. The final season of this immensely popular and pioneering series split its fanbase with its polarizing and seemingly rushed execution. The show’s star Kit Harington (Jon Snow) recently talked about how he felt about the ending.
The cast felt tired by Game of Thrones Season 8
There were many reasons for the finale failed to impress fans. However, the actors themselves felt spent as season 8 approached. Kit Harington told GQ,
“I think if there was any fault with the end of Thrones, is that we were all so fucking tired, we couldn’t have gone on longer. And so I understand some people thought it was rushed and I might agree with them. But I’m not sure there was any alternative. I look at pictures of me in that final season and I look exhausted. I look spent. I didn’t have another season in me.”

Kit Harington accepts mistakes were made in the end
Just like the actors, the showrunners might’ve also felt the same way. Which is why a lot of the fans thought they hurried to move on to their next project, a Star Wars trilogy. Harington too felt the season was rushed, as he added, “Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think there were mistakes made, story-wise, towards the end maybe. I think there were some interesting choices that didn’t quite work.”
