Many of the actors and actresses who may be considered the most down-to-earth celebrities were part of the Game of Thrones ensemble. Among them is without a doubt Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo. He has been extremely successful as the superhero Aquaman while remaining true to his heritage. However, there was a time right after Game of Thrones when he struggled to land an acting job.

Jason Momoa had difficulties getting work after Game of Thrones

It is hard to imagine someone like Jason Momoa finding it hard to get a role. In a recent interview with Esquire, the Justice League star “couldn’t get a meeting to save my soul,” after he finished filming for the HBO epic. Part of the reason Hollywood casting directors weren’t interested in him may have been that he once met “a famous comedian that I really love” who didn’t even know he spoke English.

Momoa recalled, “It wasn’t until the third season came out, when the show actually caught on…when things started to kick off. That’s when Zack [Snyder] called.”

Jason Momoa isn’t sure he’ll be back in the DCU

Several old DCEU characters were recast when James Gunn’s DCU gave the former DCEU a makeover. In a recent interview, Momoa—who will shortly starred in the highly anticipated Aquaman movie sequel—said, “I don’t necessarily want it to be the end… [but] I don’t think it’s really, like, a choice. The truth of it is, I mean, if the audience loves it, then there’s a possibility. But right now, I’m like, ‘It’s not looking too good.”
