House of the Dragon will only have 4 seasons, says showrunner Ryan Condal
Are 4 seasons enough?

The second season of House of the Dragon concluded its run yesterday. Fans eagerly anticipate the next installment of the Targaryen saga, while HBO gears up for additional Game of Thrones spinoffs. The season finale generated significant excitement for the upcoming battles, although there will be a wait before they unfold. And we already know how many more seasons we will get.
House of the Dragon will end with Season 4
While many fans were expecting the show to go on for at least 5 seasons, it looks like they will have to settle for just 4. At a press conference on Monday, discussing the Season 2 finale of House of the Dragon, showrunner and co-creator Ryan Condal announced that the Game of Thrones prequel is set to include two additional seasons, concluding with Season 4.

House of the Dragon Season 3 filming to begin in 2025
Condal confirmed that the writing for the third season is underway, with preparations set for the fall and production planned for early 2025. Regarding whether Season 3 will have eight episodes like the second season, Condal told Variety:
“I haven’t had discussions with HBO about it, I would just anticipate the cadence of the show, from dramatic storytelling perspective, will continue to be the same from Season 2 on.”
