House of the Dragon viewership rose another 3% with Episode 6
The latest episode of House of the Dragon drew in 3% more viewers than the previous one, according to Variety. This marks the third consecutive week of growth for the series, which has seen a steady increase in viewership with each new episode. Episodes 4 and 5 showed a 5% and 3% increase respectively, as previously reported by Variety.
The total number of viewers for House of the Dragon Episode 6 was increased by accounting for those who watched it on HBO, HBO Max, and other platforms through the night. The percentage of the increase in viewership was confirmed by Variety. Though the actual number of people who watched the episode has not been disclosed by Warner Bros. Discovery.
2.479 million viewers tuned in to the cable broadcast of the show. Additionally, the first season averaged 29 million viewers per episode across all platforms as of Sept. 20. This is quite a significant feat for any cable series, especially when you consider that streaming services were used to help boost viewership.
That being said, The Princess and the Queen was a pivotal episode for House of the Dragon as it signified a ten-year time jump. This resulted in the casting of new actors in major roles. The most recent episode introduced two new actresses playing the older versions of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Lady Alicent Hightower. While Milly Alcock and Emily Carey were both fan favorites for their work in the first five episodes, it’s promising that the show was able to retain viewership after making the change. Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy did a great job in their respective roles. It’ll be interesting to see how they develop their characters over the course of the season.
