Interview
Young Rhaenyra and Alicent unlikely to show up in House of the Dragon Season 2, says showruner

Even from the very beginning, the team who was working to prepare and cut House of the Dragon‘s storyline, had their work cut out for them. The original novel spans 150 years, chronicling the ascent and decline of the Targaryen dynasty in Westeros. Even if they chose to focus the show on the Targaryen civil war, they would still be met with challenges since the conflict’s origins date back decades into the characters’ lives. So, when Ryan Condal became the showrunner, he crafted a story that would span multiple decades.
With that being said, after Episode 6 premiered the other day, many fans were left wondering if the confrontation scene was truly the last we’ll see of Alcock and Carey. The introduction to D’Arcy and Cooke‘s approach to the roles was gripping, and it’s clear that the writers are heightening the stakes for the characters. We can only hope that this isn’t the last we’ll see of Alcock and Carey.
But keeping this notion in mind, showrunner Ryan Condal mentioned in a recent interview that –
“The younger versions of Rhaenyra and Alicent are not a part of the story that we’re telling, yet. That’s not a thing that we’re doing right now.”
However, he did say that “while “‘Game of Thrones’ was not a flashback show,” his show can get “a little bit more fancy” with its narrative approach.” As such, we can expect young Alicent and Rhaenyra to show up in the later seasons if everything goes right.
