House of the Dragon Season 2: Lord Corlys pledges allegiance to Rhaenyra in new promo
It seems like there isn’t much left between Princess Rhaenyra becoming Queen Rhaenyra. Armed with a vengeance and a hunger for power, Rhaenyra is a worthy opponent to Aegon II who seems to be a clueless King without the guidance of her council and mother.
The latest promo featuring Lord Corlys Velaryon, played by Steve Toussaint, showcases the character finally joining Rhaenyra’s cause and standing with his wife Rhaenys.
Lord Corlys Velaryon grieves his grandson in the latest promo for House of the Dragon season 2
Having lost his grandson and heir Prince Lucerys, Lord Corlys is shaken to his core. He wants to end his battle for the Iron Throne and live a peaceful life. However, his wife Rhaenys speaks to him and reignites the fire to right the wrongs.
They together join Rhaenyra’s cause and support her claim to the Iron Throne. Lord Corlys is a strategic mastermind and has a vast fleet of ships and armies that will be helpful for Rhaenyra. Her claim to power and regaining her birthright seem to be getting stronger by the minute. With Daemon’s head in the game, there’s a chance Rhaenyra might actually win the war.

However, the fact that both factions steadfastly believe in their claim to power, no one is ready to back down. They will see the war to the very end and die before they accept defeat. The latest promo with Lord Corlys at the helm also gives fans a glimpse into the face-off between Alicent and Rhaenyra as the situation worsens between the two long-lost best friends.
Toussaint calls House of the Dragon season a very emotional and intense ride for Lord Corlys as a lot is at stake now. With his grandchildren being targeted and his wife and him supporting Rhaenyra, Corlys has to ensure they emerge victorious. Lord Corlys is also seen advising Rhaenyra on possible military actions, consolidating his position as one of the strongest assets in Team Black.
