House of the Dragon’s epic intro has leaked, and it’s just as good as the Game of Thrones one

House of the Dragon premiered last week, ending a long, long wait. However, when it dropped, the show’s pilot episode was missing a crucial bit — the intro! The cold open was rather nice for establishing the tone of the show. However, it still made us miss the Game of Thrones intro. The intro was then said to arrive with the second episode, but instead has now leaked ahead of time, and it’s just as good as the Game of Thrones intro!

The intro video began doing the rounds on social media today. It’s not the highest-quality video, but it seems to be from the French version of the show.

House of the Dragon retains the Game of Thrones intro music

The intro to House of the Dragon seems to follow the Game of Thrones formula. A similar setup, except a lot bloodier. It also keeps the theme music from Game of Thrones as-is. HBO probably went with this move to retain familiarity with Thrones. The tune is still as catchy, but House of the Dragon could’ve used a fresh theme. The fans would likely respond positively to that, as well.

The intro represents the Targaryen theme itself quite well. Fans seem to be divided on the intro so far, with some praising the bone-chilling update to the Thrones intro, while others disappointed that there’s no brand new music to go along with the visuals. While there’s no confirmation on the legitimacy of this leak, the intro sure does look official. We would be surprised if we’re greeted with a different intro when the second episode drops tomorrow.

Yeah…kinda disappointed that they didnt bother to make a new theme song. The animation is cool, but they could have at least ALTERED the theme some.

I like GOT theme music, but would have liked House of Dragons to change it up a bit, keeping some of the motifs from GOT. The way several of the Star Trek spin-offs use bits of the theme from the original series.

I’m good with the music—but not so much the visuals. The GoT intro was not only visually stunning, but it helped you understand the show by giving us the geography—and it was clear from the start that that was the intended message. For this one, I’m not sure what we’re meant to learn—or even if there is anything to learn.

It will be interesting to see if it changes over time as the main story evolves, like GoT did.

Connecting everything with red lines, as if that is the source of power, feels a bit like it was copied from Minecraft redstone.

I’ll LOL if it turns out that this was a fake, done just to throw the internet off, like the multiple fake scripts of the final episode of Seinfeld which circulated the week before it aired…
