House of the Dragon was one of the biggest shows of 2022. With the awards season now ongoing, it’s proving that it was among the best as well. The Golden Globe Awards 2023 ceremony was today, and House of the Dragon managed to win the award for Best Drama Series. The show beat some tough competition to win in this category.

We had recently reported about House of the Dragon’s Golden Globe nomination, and the show has now won in the Best Drama Series category, reports Variety. Here’s what the category looked like:

Best Television Series, Drama

  • “Better Call Saul” (AMC)
  • “The Crown” (Netflix)
  • “House of the Dragon” (HBO) (WINNER)
  • “Ozark” (Netflix)
  • “Severance” (Apple TV+)

Beating a show like Better Call Saul, which went out on a high, and one like Severance, which has had one of the most promising debut seasons of all time, is a real feat for this Game of Thrones prequel. It looks like House of the Dragon is set to repeat Game of Thrones’ award run, but it may skip the next awards season, given how the House of the Dragon Season 2 release date is set for somewhere in 2024 as of now.
