Helaena warned Aegon of Blood and Cheese early in House of the Dragon Season 2 premiere episode
Helaena might’ve witnessed her son’s death twice.
House of the Dragon is adapted from George R.R. Martin‘s “Fire & Blood.” The Dance of the Dragons, one of the most catastrophic wars in Targaryen history, greatly diminished their might. Readers typically align with either Team Green or Team Black, yet Princess Helaena Targaryen is universally adored. Although the book does not attribute prophetic powers to her, the television series has introduced this element.
Helaena predicted Blood & Cheese early in the episode
Eagle-eyed fans must have noticed Helaena was feeling quite uneasy from the beginning of the episode. She confesses to her husband/brother that she was afraid, which Aegon assumes she was scared of the war. However, she makes it clear that she is afraid of the rats, not the dragons. Aegon dismisses it, not understanding the significance of her words, which actually refer to the ratcatcher Cheese and sellsword Blood.

Why is Helaena’s reaction to witnessing her son’s murder so odd?
The most disappointing aspect of the Blood and Cheese arc was its deviation from the original material, coupled with Helaena’s peculiar behavior in that context. Phia Saban, the actress portraying Helaena, recently shed light on her character’s response in an interview with Inverse:
“People have been like, that was a bit unfeeling. But I think you can’t underestimate how you behave in something that is as high stakes and traumatic as that. She’s someone who is so particular and specific anyway, it would be understandable that it would be an intensified version of that when the shit really hits the fan.”
