Phia Saban reveals if Helaena knows where Aegon and Larys are going in House of the Dragon season 2 finale
Is Helaena quiet about Larys and Aegon?
As the Targaryen civil war reaches a boiling point at the end of season 2 of House of The Dragon, Helaena finds herself at the center of a maelstrom, unaware of the devastating turn her family’s fate is about to take. The secret agreement on Dragonstone sets the stage for a dramatic shift in the balance of power, with Alicent’s consent to Rhaenyra’s demand for Aegon’s sacrifice poised to change Helaena’s world.
Helaena’s current update of Aegon and Larys
Phia Saban shares her insights on Alicent’s startling deal, acknowledging that discovering a family member’s involvement in such a plot would be challenging to accept. Will Helaena ever learn about her mother’s plan and what will be the consequences if she does?
As the writing for Season 3 is already underway, Saban remains in the dark about what’s to come, including Helaena’s potential reaction to the news and whether her prophetic abilities might have already hinted at the betrayal. She may already know where her brother and Larys are going. Phia Saban in an interview with The Wrap said,
“It would be a tough pill to swallow to know that about any member of your family. I wonder if [Helaena will] ever hear that that was the plan. I wonder what will happen. With writing currently underway for Season 3, Saban said she has “no idea what’s happening next season,” including where Helaena might be should she hear of her mother’s plan, or if her seeing powers would have clued her in.”

Alicent’s plan is set to become even more complex
Alicent’s plan will face new complications upon her return to King’s Landing, where she’ll learn that Aegon has escaped with Larys Strong – a detail Aegon likely kept hidden from Helaena. Saban expresses her excitement for the upcoming storyline, imagining a scenario where Alicent and Helaena might join forces with Larys and Aegon.
“I don’t think he told her where he was going,” the actress said, noting that she didn’t have anything to do with that storyline. “Those two [are my] favorite characters, so I’m really, really excited for that storyline next season. I don’t think she has any idea about it, otherwise, maybe she would’ve like to go with — no, she wouldn’t … That’d be really fun. Maybe Alicent and Helaena can run away and hook up with them, Larys and Aegon.”
