House of the Dragon episode 9 introduces us to Helaena and Aegon’s children
Aegon the Second and Helaena Targaryen are the new King and Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, at least according to the Greens. Aegon has shown no interest in his wife, and it seems that Helaena had to accept this bitter truth. She genuinely wonders why their mother comes to check her chambers when Aegon goes missing. No matter, they have three children together. In House of the Dragon episode 9, we see two of them, their twins Jaehaerys and Jaehaera.
Helaena embroiders a spider on a cloth as a maid keeps her toddlers engaged. The twins are named after their great-grandfather King Jaehaerys I. Queen Alicent was likely the one who chose these names. Alicent was one of King Jaehaerys’ closest companions in his old age. In the book, Fire & Blood, Alicent washed and dressed the old King and read to him. The King sometimes mistook Alicent for his daughter, Saera Targaryen, as his health declined.
In the book, Alicent remembers Jaehaerys fondly until her death. Even though the show did not explore this relationship, the book makes it clear that she held a special place in her heart for him. This makes her naming her first grandchildren after him very probable and sweet.
