In the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, relationships are a flaming disaster. As these suppressed emotions finally start to surface, the Targaryen dynasty plunged into civil war. However, some interactions slipped right under our noses, one of which was between dowager Queen Alicent and her protector Criston Cole, which might surprise a lot.

As the House of the Dragon Season 2 release date slowly rolls closer, more tidbits are being revealed at promotional tours. The most recent one comes from an interview with BGN, where Fabien Frankel revealed Criston Cole had s*x with Alicent. He said:

The Cast and Showrunner of 'House of the Dragon' on New Costumes, Riding Dragons and More!

“[Criston Cole] is in there with Alicent when that’s happened. I mean, he should have been there standing sentry. Yeah. And he wasn’t.

I mean, it’s like one of the first lines that Aegon has to Cole like “and where were you”, you know, “supposed to be protecting my family”. And little does he know, obviously that Cole is, well..”

A year ago, Emily Carry, who portrayed younger version of Alicent, commented that Alicent loved Criston Cole. How the tables have turned!

Fans react to Fabien Frankel’s shocking revelation

Though there were rumors since Season 1 about an alleged relationship between Alicent and Cole, they were never confirmed. Season 2 takes a grotesque form, and adds to Alicent’s guilt, as she might’ve helped Helaena in some way during the Blood and Cheese incident if she wasn’t “busy”.
