“On the studio set of a flashy car advert, runner Tommy [D’Arcy] carries out the menial tasks: making coffees and setting out snacks. He’s entranced by the alluring light of the Virtual Production Stage – a huge LED screen that transports the subject to a beautiful, dreamlike forest. The star of the car advert is Hollywood actor David [Suter]. David has everything Tommy craves: fame, recognition, talent. Tommy isn’t allowed anywhere near him.

Tommy becomes increasingly convinced that he and David are destined for each other. He just needs David to recognize it too. Throughout, we catch glimpses of a glitzy chat show, in which Tommy and David are interviewed about their longstanding creative partnership. They tell the story of how they first met: when David was filming a car advert… A short film about knowing what you want but not how to get it: when the destination feels so tangible, but the journey there is a mystery.”
