These prestigious accolades honor outstanding achievements in science fiction, fantasy, and horror across both film and television. The awards ceremony took place on February 4, 2025, at the LA Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel and was streamed live on ElectricNow. George R.R. Martin congratulated Emma D’Arcy and Matt Smith on their nominations for their roles Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen.

George R.R. Martin was elated when he received the news that House of the Dragon had been nominated in three categories. Emma D’Arcy and Matt Smith for best actress and best supporting actor respectively. Martin took to his blog, Not A Blog,
“HOUSE OF THE DRAGON had three finalists in the television division.
EMMA D’ARCY was nominated as Best Actress in a Televsion Series, and MATT SMITH for Best Supporting Actor.
The show itself was up against AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, FOR ALL MANKIND, THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES, LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER, and PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS for BEST FANTASY SERIES.

Our congratulations go out to Emma and Matt. It is an honor just to be nominated (as I’ve been told more times than I can count). It’s true. Matt and Emma did not win (this year), but they did outstanding work bringing Rhaenyra and Daemon to vivid life.
