Sunfyre the Golden arrives in all its shiny glory in House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 4
Probably the last time we saw Sunfyre fly, too.
Season 2 of House of the Dragon introduced us to the most magnificent dragon in the Dance of the Dragons. This dragon is Sunfyre the Golden, ridden by King Aegon II Targaryen. Notably missing from Season 1, Sunfyre only appeared in a handful of fleeting scenes. We finally got a proper debut in the most recent episode, followed by a cliffhanger ending.
This figure of Aemond Targaryen also comes with a chance of receiving a Chase version of the figure, which shows a glow-in-the-dark Aemond with Sapphire Eye.

In the initial episodes of House of the Dragon Season 2, we saw Aegon II reluctant to go to war. When Criston Cole decided to march on Harrenhal, the King offered to join but changed his mind at the last second. He understood the fatality of war and cowardly decided against it.
Now, enraged by his mother’s harsh words, Aegon II decided to armor up and fly head first into war. His insecurities have been troubling him since the beginning. Aegon II, despite being King, believes that nobody respects him. This doubt roots from his incapacity to be a good King and protect his realm from chaos. He has to depend on his Council for the right direction, something he perceives as weakness.
As Aegon II readies for battle, he meets his dragon companion Sunfyre in the dungeon and rides off to war. This is where we get a good long look at the King’s dragon.
He is agile, fast and overall powerful. Due to Aegon II’s poor moves, Sunfyre doesn’t last long in the battlefield. Meleys attacks him head-on, leaving him incapacitated.
However, the real blow comes when Aemond and Vhagar come into the picture. Seemingly, Vhagar breathes fire on Aegon II and Sunfyre whereas Rhaenys and Meleys come out unharmed.
What will happen to Sunfyre in House of the Dragon?
According the Fire and Blood, it is said that after the Battle at Rook’s Rest, Sunfyre will never be able to fly again. Towards the end of the episode, we see Sunfyre barely breathing and bleeding profusely. Even the state of Aegon II is unknown. House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 5 will be able to answer these burning questions.
