Fans of Game of Thrones and DC have much to look forward to. The second season of House of the Dragon has recently aired, and another spinoff is currently in development. Concurrently, the highly anticipated reboot of James Gunn’s DCU is preparing for its premiere. And fans are busy picking out their favorites for the superhero roles. Sometimes, Gunn, too, gets busy with them.

Can Gwendoline Christie play DCU’s Wonder Woman?

Wonder Woman is perhaps the most iconic female superhero in DC’s publication history. That is why fans are curious about her casting. There has been no news about an actor being eyed for the role yet, which is why fans are throwing out options on social media, and sometimes to James Gunn.

On the social media platform Threads (via CBR), James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, remarked on the casting for the DCU’s Wonder Woman. A user inquired about his opinion on the fan theory that “Superman should always be taller than Batman and Wonder Woman should be taller than both of them.” Gunn responded, “Not good. I don’t know where I’d find an accomplished and talented actress 6’5′ or over.”

Another person responded with a picture of Gwendoline Christie, known for her roles in Game of Thrones and The Sandman, suggesting she would be ideal for the role. In reference to David Corenswet, who portrays Clark Kent in the forthcoming Superman film within the DCU, Gunn remarked, “Still shorter than [David] Corenswet.” When a different fan inquired if Gunn was joking, he elaborated, “No she’s 6’3′ (and a very very lovely person [by the way]) and he’s 6’4.”

Milly Alcock’s Supergirl begins filming early next year

One notable casting from the Game of Thrones franchise into the DCU is Milly Alcock from House of the Dragon, who will play Supergirl. At a recent NYCC panel, Gunn disclosed the filming start date for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow:

“The writer and director have been doing a fantastic job spearheading it. We start shooting in January in England. I saw the screen test with Milly Alcock and it’s so exciting. Ana’s pitch about Supergirl was one of the best pitches I’ve ever heard. It’s based on Tom King’s comic Woman Of Tomorrow with some differences in structure, but it has those characters and themes.”
