Filming
Game of Thrones spinoff The Hedge Knight set to begin production in June 2024
Ahead of its release later this year, the second season of House of the Dragon is highly anticipated by fans of Game of Thrones. There are other spinoffs that have kept fans on the edge of their seats, though, besides the Targaryen civil war. HBO revealed a second prequel series called “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” a few months ago. We finally have a lock on the day the upcoming prequel will start filming.
The Hedge Knight to begin filming in Belfast in June
The upcoming Game of Thrones prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is set to begin filming this summer in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The exact filming date has been revealed on Production List, where it states the production to begin on June 03, 2024. A synopsis for the show was also posted, which reads:
“Before Game of Thrones, Ser Duncan the Tall, a brave but inexperienced knight, and his small squire, Egg, roamed Westeros during the Targaryen era. Their adventures feature great destinies, formidable enemies, and daring escapades in a time when dragons still roamed and Targaryens ruled.”
The Hedge Knight will have at least 3 seasons
In an interview last year, Francesca Orsi, Chief of Drama at HBO, revealed how long we can expect the Game of Thrones prequel to stay on TV. She said,
“Ideally year-to-year and arcing out a three-season series, which maps out the three novellas that George wrote. Of course, we’d like more beyond that, and George is continuing to think about the remaining novellas that he still wants to write but at this point, we have our eye on three seasons that would map out each book, each novella.”
