Theories
Did Marlene use Riley to get Ellie to join the Fireflies in The Last of Us?
HBO’s The Last of Us was a unique take on post-apocalyptic horror, focusing more on the humane side of the storyline rather than zombie-infused jumpscares. There have been several fan theories about the series ever since the original video game was released, and several of them have been found to be true. The latest one that has come to light is so diabolical, it terrified Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie on the show.
Marlene might have used Riley to get to Ellie
In her recent chat with Vanity Fair, Ramsey reacted to some of the fan theories picked by the host from the internet. One of the theories suggested that since Marlene already knew that Ellie was immune, she used Riley to get Ellie to the Fireflies. This is how Ramsey reacted:
“I don’t wanna believe this is true… I want to believe that Riley loves Ellie and there’s no ulterior motive. Because that’s too much of a betrayal otherwise. What I mean is that it’s valid; Riley leaving for three weeks or whatever, it’s like part of this whole scheme. It would like ruin Ellie. If this was true… I mean she already has trust issues, right? So this would just, I feel like she would never be able to trust anybody. And I think her relationship with Joel would be different also because of that.”
What does Bella Ramsey (Ellie) think about The Last of Us Season 1 finale?
In an interview with Empire Magazine, Ramsey talks about Ellie’s point of view after the hospital incident, most of which she spends highly sedated. “I think Ellie knows,” says Ramsey. “There’s a part of her that knows or fears he’s not telling the truth. But she has to believe it. Because she can’t think about what it would mean if he isn’t telling the truth. She has to believe, because otherwise it would break her heart.”
When does The Last of Us Season 2 begin filming?
In a recent interview with Collider, Pascal said, “In the year 2023? Oh, what season are we in now? We’re getting into spring? Yes, there is a chance. Yes.” The first season of The Last of Us took around 18 months to film. So, looking at the time gap, there’s a high probability that the second season won’t be here until 2025.
