House of The Dragon Season 2 may skip a young Targaryen from Fire & Blood
Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon finished its first season last year, and it was a grand success. The show has outperformed most of its competitors, winning The Golden Globe award for Best Drama series, and hopes are high with this year’s Emmy nominations. The second season of the series will begin production very soon, but it seems like HBO might have reduced the number of Targaryens even before the civil war began, right under our nose.
Who might have been cut from House of The Dragon Season 2?
Though HBO has assured that all the major players who will be fighting for the throne are present in their roster, they might have overlooked a few characters not so involved in the war. But it becomes a glaring mistake if the character actually belongs to the family tree, the basis of the show, and of course the glorious title. According to a recent investigation by WiC, HBO might have cut Maelor Taragryen, Aegon and Helaena’s third child, from the show.
The report details that HBO has an official House of the Dragon character guide on its website, which lists the family tree for the viewer’s convenience. The family tree shows that Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) and his sister-wife Helaena Targaryen (Phia Saban) have two children: Jaehaerys Targaryen and Jaehaera Targaryen. However, they also have a third child in the book Fire & Blood, a boy named Maelor. But he is not included in the family tree.
What can we expect from House of The Dragon Season 2?
There’s a lot that’s at stake in Season 2. “We will get to the spectacle,” co-creator and showrunner Ryan Condal told The Times. “But you must understand these people’s complexities before they’re thrown into war. And now that we’ve gotten to know the major characters as well as what’s at stake, “[season] two will hit the rhythms people came to expect from the middle run of Game of Thrones, but it will have been earned, and viewers will feel the tragedies because we put the work in.”
